Middelrode is a village in the Dutch province of North Brabant, located in the Meierij of 's-Hertogenbosch along the river Aa. Until the municipal reorganization in 1996, Middelrode belonged to the independent municipality of Berlicum. Together with the municipality of Den Dungen, this municipality was added to the municipality of Sint-Michielsgestel. Middelrode has been an agricultural village for a long time. After the Second World War, Middelrode gradually changed into a commuter village. On 1 January 2009, Berlicum and Middelrode together had 9743 inhabitants. There is a Roman Catholic church, a café, a community center and a primary school. Furthermore, just outside the original village center of Middelrode, southwest of the river Aa, are the remains of a castle, located in the Seldensate estate. The gatehouse with dovecote, belonging to the former castle, is still standing.
