On the Dwarsdijk you are thrown back in time as a hiker. Via a winding road you walk past a few old farms where there are still very old-fashioned pear and apple trees in the yard. This nostalgic feeling is reinforced when the road makes a right turn and the old watermill Trouwe Wachter appears in the picture. The mill got that nickname after the Second World War: during the German occupation, people in hiding were warned via the stand of the blades if there was any trouble.
