The Algemene Veen is a nature reserve of about 13 hectares in the Gelderland municipality of Hattem. The area, located to the southeast of the city of Hattem near the IJssel River and the Apeldoorn Canal, is a remnant of the Hattem marshlands that were developed as an industrial area. The sand ridge, which is higher than the surrounding area, features both forests and heath as well as ponds. This results in a large variety of biotopes.
