Miss Constatia Staring, the youngest daughter of the famous poet and writer A.C.W. Staring, had this pavilion built by the Berkel around 1850. She regularly visited to enjoy the peace and nature. After her death in 1893, this tea house was purchased by the Velhorst brothers. Later, the building fell into disrepair.
In 2004, the Society for Nature Monuments restored the building with the financial support of the European Union, the Province of Gelderland, and the Municipality of Lochem, and opened it to the public. Entrance is free.
The tea pavilion serves as an information point about culture and nature in the County.
There is a permanent exhibition about poet Staring.
