The Vught Lunettes are a collection of eight fortifications surrounding the North Brabant town of Vught. A lunette is a small fortification as part of a larger line. The lunettes of Vught were built between 1844 and 1848 as outposts of Fort Isabella, based on the defense policy of King William II. This defense policy was ceased within twenty years after the completion of the lunettes. In 1874, it was decided to allow them to continue to exist despite the abolition of the 's-Hertogenbosch Defense Line. Of the originally eight lunettes, four have been fully preserved and one lunette has completely disappeared. The remaining three have been affected to a greater or lesser extent by housing development.
