The tea dome of Vechtoever is one of the most beautiful domes in the Vechtstreek and dates from around 1760. Built in classicist style, it has the shape of a garden temple rather than a tea dome. The tea dome originally had a balustrade roof that was destroyed by fire in 1920. The current roof is supported by 6 columns in Corinthian style. Furthermore, the dome is decorated by 6 carved masks that successively represent: spring, summer, autumn, winter, the sun and the moon. From the tea dome you have a view over the Vecht and over the (cut) flower garden. The dome was completely restored in 1987-1988.
In the 17th century, the garden and park of Vechtoever were, as now, a pleasure resort. In this period, however, the garden had a formal construction including many straight shaved (high) hedges and boxwood parterres.
Around 1800, the English landscape style was introduced in our country and the garden was adapted according to this style. A large pond was dug and natural, winding watercourses were created. In 1989, based on the rehabilitation plan of landscape architect Ir. D. Haver Droeze, the garden, ponds and park were extensively restored
