The monument commemorates that Queen Wilhelmina set foot on Dutch soil again on 13 March 1945. After being in exile for five years during World War II. Local residents then drew a symbolic line with flour. The Second World War left deep scars in West Zeeuws-Vlaanderen with many casualties and enormous material damage.
