Just above Steenwijk lies the Steenwijkerwold. Here, the flat and water-rich Overijssel country suddenly turns into a rolling landscape with forests, centuries-old avenues and quiet paths. The Woldberg is the highest point in the landscape at 25 meters. Some of the paths you walk on the Woldberg turn out to be a link to the Second World War. The rubble, which was the result of the bombing of Rotterdam, has been used again to pave paths on the Woldberg.
