The Antonius van Paduakerk is a Roman Catholic church on Groesbeekseweg in Nijmegen. The neo-Gothic building was erected in 1916-1917 based on a design by the Rotterdam architect Jos Margry. The church is dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua.
The construction was supported by the Church Building Foundation, which aimed to build churches dedicated to this saint.
Next to the church, a rectory has also been built. This is now home to the Pelgrimshuis Antonius. A pilgrimage house in Nijmegen is actually quite natural. Not only is Nijmegen a departure point for pilgrims to Rome and Santiago de Compostela, but there are also pilgrimage routes to the nearby German Kevelaer and to Bergharen.
The Pelgrimshuis Antonius is there for everyone who needs reflection and depth, but also to help others, for meetings, or for a connection with nature and sustainability. The building was renovated in 2020 and 2021 for the activities of the pilgrimage house. In addition to the general spaces, there will also be a meditation room and a space suitable for lectures, group discussions, etc. The Pelgrimshuis will also have 12 guest rooms available for about 20 guests.
