Grunsfoort Castle stood west of Renkum in Gelderland until the end of the 18th century. The grounds with the foundations of the castle are now a national monument. From the 14th century Grunsfoort was an important castle of the Duchy of Guelders. It was strategically located in a swampy stream valley. It was probably built before 1372 for the defense of the Duchy of Guelders against the Sticht Utrecht. It was demolished around 1780. In the immediate vicinity, but on the moraine, Huize Kortenburg was erected in the course of the 17th century, the first building on the current Oranje Nassau's Oord estate.
