The Punt van Reide is a Dutch peninsula that belongs to the municipality of Eemsdelta and is located between the Dollard and the Ems near Termunten.De Punt van Reide is a remnant of the embank of the Ems that has not disappeared due to the storm surges. In the area of Reiderland, swept away by the sea, there were two villages, Oosterreide and Westerreide. According to the 17th-century historian Ubbo Emmius, the Reider Ee ran between the two villages of Ooster- and Westerreide. Since the ninth century, the famous German abbey of Werden aan de Roer had a number of possessions in this area, including the right of patronage of the church of Oosterreide. Both villages had a deposit, and in Oosterreide there was also a Dominican convent. Oosterreide disappeared into the waves around 1530. Westerreide existed until the end of the 16th century; Remnants of the village are still present in the soil.
