From 1838 to 2002, the Tiel District Court was one of the district courts in the Netherlands. After the abolition of the district court as an independent court in 2002, Tiel became a secondary hearing place for the subdistrict court of the Arnhem District Court. The court was located in a national monument that was built in front of the former court of Tiel. As of 1 April 2013, the court seat was abolished.
