The Hoogmadese mill / De Heerlijkheid is a seesaw mill just north of Hoogmade. The mill was built in 1897 for the drainage of the Hoogmadesche and Piestpolder, as a replacement for a dilapidated earlier mill. The mill was inhabited in former times. Until 1962, the mill had a paddle wheel. Nowadays, the water is pumped up with a mortar, sometimes with the help of an electric motor in the mill. Next to the mill is a small pumping station.
On the mill is a wind vane with the text: Saint Donatus, keep us. St. Donatus is the protector against lightning strikes.
