Nieuwe Markt is a square in the center of the Dutch city of Kampen between the Buiten Nieuwstraat and the Gasthuisstraat to the Burgwal. Today, the square is used as a parking lot. On Mondays, the Monday market is held on the square.
Originally, the area was used as a vegetable garden of the Friars Minor Monastery. In 1627, the city council decided to build a square on the burgel canal where markets and events could be organized. Since 1872 there has been a music pavilion on the square, where schoolchildren sing during Queen's Day, among other things.
