The name Count Floris V weg is derived from the Count of Holland who bought the Gooi from the Abbess Godelinde of Elten Abbey in 1280. In this area Floris V was captured by nobles in 1296 and taken to muiderslot.
The road now marks the border between the wooded sandy soils (north side) and the cultivated lands in the province of Utrecht (south side).
