The Corversbos is a forest on the outskirts of Hilversum in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is bordered on the east by the village, while on the west side, the forest transitions into the area of the 's-Graveland estates.
The Corversbos covers about 100 hectares and is tucked away in the Gooi region, on the edge of the former shallow Loosdrecht peat areas, on glacial sand against the Gooise ridge. It currently consists of several mixed forests and enclosed meadows and agricultural lands.
Most of the current trees were planted after World War II (the former Corversbos was cut down for firewood during WWII).
Mixed forest.
In the forest, there is a Beehive and a former toll house, on The Way to Gooilust.
In 1777, Gerrit Corver Hooft received the Gooise heath (the current Corversbos) on a long lease upon the purchase of Gooilust, one of the 's-Graveland estates.
Gerrit Corver Hooft was the last bailiff of Gooiland and the lord of Muiden.
He planted trees and used part of the land for cultivation.
The area came into the ownership of the family in 1843 and has since been called Corversbos, after Gerrit Corver Hooft.
The last Corver Hooft, Margaretha, died in 1895.
The forest then came into the hands of her niece Louise Six, married to Frans E. Blaauw.
Frans Blaauw established a villa park (Diergaardepark) on the northern edge of the forest (near the 's-Gravelandseweg).
Upon her death in 1934, Louise bequeathed the Corversbos to the Nature Monuments organization.
