The village of Blaricum, like Laren, has retained much of the original character of a brink village with farms. From the beginning of the twentieth century, wealthy Amsterdammers and artists settled in Blaricum, changing the character of the village. Most of the farms lost their agricultural purpose and were converted into luxury homes.
