The mill was originally built in 1818 and originally came from Bedum, where it stood as a drainage mill alongside 'partner' "Adam," also a drainage mill. Adam moved to Delfzijl and is still present there as a grain mill.
Eva burned down on December 30, 1890, but was rebuilt in 1891 on the old stone base. The mill was equipped with automatic sailing and self-tuning. The self-tuning quickly fell into disuse, and the automatic sailing disappeared after 1953, replaced by the old Dutch sail framework. After the mill was taken out of service, there were three significant restorations, namely in 1953-'56, in the early 80s, and in 2000-2001. For the second restoration, actions were held for the then deplorable mill with the slogan 'Don't let Adam become a widower.' The mill is opened to the public almost every Saturday by volunteer millers.
