Have a coffee in the old village pub or breathe the air of a painting workshop and the Jewish butcher's shop. In The Hoogeland Open Air Museum you can still experience the past of the vast countryside. On the outskirts of the Netherlands you come into contact with history. Twenty furnished buildings in the heart of the beautiful village of Warffum, together form the Open Air Museum Het Hoogeland. With a combination of houses, workshops, a school and a café, the museum gives a picture of living and working in the countryside until 1900. The detailed interiors give a penetrating picture of life in a small village community. The museum grounds, with vegetable and ornamental gardens, offer a view of the famous Groningen landscape.
For children, a treasure hunt has been set out throughout the site. In addition, the younger visitors come into contact with the past in Het Bewaarhuis. On the playground they can also walk stilts, hoop or jump rope.
The museum has a catering facility, where you can use soft drinks, coffee or a light lunch in a suitable environment. For larger groups there is De Schutstal, where reservations can be made based on packages.
