The church was originally dedicated to St. Martin. The single-nave church and tower were built in the 15th century. Around 1525 the tower was raised and in the same period the choir was completed. The church has a gable roof tower of three sections and three bells. On the south wall a sundial from 1640. The north wall is closed and still contains tuff, the south wall contains high Gothic pointed arch windows. The interior is covered by a barrel vault and there is a crypt in the choir. The organ, with pipes from an older organ by Arp Schnitger and a case from 1866, was made by Adema.
