Castle Nederhemert is a castle that dates back to the beginning of the 14th century. It is located near the village of Nederhemert in the Bommelerwaard, in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It was built on an island in the Maas River near Heusden.
Just before 1300, like many castles, it started as a residential tower, and over the centuries, it was continually renovated and expanded, most recently at the end of the 19th century. The first mention of a Jan van Hemert is in 1310 when he pledged his castle as a fief to the Duke of Guelders. This indicates that it already existed at that time. The owners were also lords of the lordship of Nederhemert.
