The Waalkade is an event area in the Dutch city of Tiel located along the river Waal. The area is located outside the dikes and floods during high water. From the Waalkade, one enters the city through the openings in the Waal dike, including at the Waterpoort. These openings are used during extreme high water to protect the city. In the two grooves in the openings, two rows of beams are lowered; the space in between is still filled in the ancient way with fresh horse manure. At times when there is no high water and no event is taking place, the area is used as a parking lot. Next to the ferry to Wamel, there are four large camper spots.
