The Rhine Bridge at Rhenen is a road bridge over the Lower Rhine near Rhenen between the provinces of Gelderland and Utrecht. The N233 connects the N225, Rhenen and Veenendaal with the Betuwe and the A15 via this bridge. At the location of the current road bridge, there was a railway bridge until 1944. The railway bridge was built between 1880 and 1883 as part of the Kesteren - Amersfoort railway line. This bridge was blown up during the German attack on the Netherlands in 1940 on 10 May 1940 and later repaired. On 2 October 1944, the bridge was destroyed by the Allies for the second time. In the end, the railway bridge was not rebuilt. The new road bridge was built on the foundations of the old railway bridge in 1955. Due to the increasing traffic pressure on the bridge and the traffic jams on both sides of it, an increase in capacity has been considered since the beginning of the 21st century.
