De Galgenberg is a hill in the Dutch province of Utrecht. The hill is located north of Elst on the territory of the former municipality of Amerongen and is part of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug moraine. About 800 meters to the east is the top of the Elsterberg and 1250 meters to the northwest the top of the Amerongse Berg.
The name Galgenberg comes from the fact that there was once a gallows on this mountain, which belonged to Amerongen and was placed at a height east of the village. The gallows served only as a symbol; the only death penalty carried out in Amerongen, in 1687, was an execution with the sword on a scaffold built for the occasion.
