The Arnhem villa murder on September 2, 1998, concerns a robbery murder of 63-year-old Geke van 't Leven-de Goede in her villa on Apeldoornseweg in Arnhem. The resident was shot in the head. A 33-year-old friend who was visiting sustained a head wound, presumably from a ricochet bullet. Nine men, of whom eight were of Turkish descent, were convicted of the murder. However, in the media and academia, the guilt of the convicted individuals has been called into question after recordings of the interrogations revealed that they may have given false statements under great pressure from the police.
