The Stadskasteel Zaltbommel is a museum in the Gelderland fortified and Hanseatic city of Zaltbommel, located in the Maarten van Rossum House. It is a regional museum and located in the city center of Zaltbommel. The museum originated from an exhibition of 'antiquities' that was held in 1905. This exhibition was organized by some notable residents of the Bommelerwaard. Because it was a great success, it was decided to see if the objects could be given a permanent place in an antiquities room. Soon, with financial support, the Association of Antiquities Chambers for Zaltbommel, the Bommelerwaard and Heerewaarden was founded. The antiquities room was successively housed in a building in the Lange Steigerstraat in Zaltbommel and from 1925 in the former city coffee house on the Markt. In 1937, with the support of the Philips family, the Maarten van Rossum House was converted into a museum. In 1954, the Antiquities Chamber Association was converted into a foundation, the Maarten van Rossum Museum Foundation.
