Shipyard De Delft was located in the South Holland city of Rotterdam-Delfshaven at the Schiehaven in the Lloyd quarter. It was founded in 2001 with the aim of building a reconstruction of the eighteenth-century line ship Delft. In October 2012, the name changed to 'Historical Shipyard Rotterdams Welvaren' and in April 2014 to 'Foundation De Delft'. The old name was a reference to the 19th-century shipyard of the same name at the Boerengat in Rotterdam run by Anthony van Hoboken. From April 2014, the yard consisted of a training/work company, a production company, and a museum. The training/work company was the main source of income. The municipality provided students on a contract basis through tenders. Since early 2018, no contracts were awarded anymore, and the financial problems grew to such an extent that subsidies had to be applied for for the first time since 2013, which were not granted by the municipality. Therefore, on December 11, 2018, 'Foundation De Delft' went bankrupt, and on July 11, 2019, a public sale of the entire inventory was held.
