This chapel was built in 1468. From 1648 to 1795, the chapel was assigned to the Reformed Church. From 1800 to 1881, it served as a school and teacher's residence. It was restored in 1884, 1934, 1979, and 1996. The place of worship, located in a rural setting, has a beautiful chapel yard planted with beeches, surrounded by a hornbeam hedge, and is well maintained as a national monument. The bronze bell at the top of the tower carries the inscription 'Jhesus' and was cast in 1553 by Peter van den Ghein. The chapel has benches, and besides an altar, the white plastered space is further decorated with a gypsum statue of Mary with child, altar accessories, a baptismal font, a hanging chandelier, and several woven wall tapestries. On Saturdays and Sundays, Eucharistic celebrations are held. Furthermore, the chapel serves for celebrations such as weddings. The Saint Jacob Chapel in Galder is still loved as a departure or rest point for pilgrims on the traditional route that leads from Zeerijp via Amsterdam and Utrecht to Northwest Spain.
