Southeast of the village of Nijswiller, on the right bank of the Sinselbeek, stands Nijswiller Castle. In the oldest part there is an uneven piece of wall of 2 meters thick. This indicates that the house has a medieval origin. The protruding corner tower is considered the oldest element of the house. On the roof is a wind vane with the coat of arms of Jan (II) van Eynatten.
He is one of the owners who owned this castle over the centuries. In 1860 the house was significantly expanded. On the south side, landings with natural stone balustrades were added and moats were filled in. In 1934 the castle came into the possession of the Franciscan sisters, after which it became a center of reflection. Today the castle is privately owned and houses a bed and breakfast.
