In 1946, a land cross was placed at the highest point of the Boerskotten on behalf of Mrs Baurigter-Essink, out of gratitude that her family and the closest neighbours survived the war well. The wood for the land cross comes from the forests of the Boerskotten. The land cross was consecrated on 15 July 1946 by Johannes Cardinal de Jong. The consecration therefore took place on the patron feast of Saint Plechelmus, the patron saint of Oldenzaal and of De Lutte.
