After the land reclamation of 1645, a large creek with tributaries named "De Luyster" continued to flow. Around 1650, a large farm was built next to the Luysterkreek, called the Hollands Hoeve, named after the first owner, the Lady of Maasdam. The first tenant of the Hollands Hoeve was Aalbrecht Eggebeen from Biezelinge. Later, he changed his last name to Van de Luyster. A famous descendant is Jannes van de Luyster (born 1789), who bought the old beautiful farm 'Molenzicht' (1618) in Borssele in 1817. After religious disputes, Jannes emigrated along with 450 fellow Zeelanders to America, where he founded the village Zeeland in the state of Michigan around 1846. Both farms of Van de Luyster, the Hollandse Hoeve in Sint Philipsland and Molenzicht in Borssele, are still well-preserved in the landscape and are currently inhabited by two sisters. The present house was built in 1916. The agricultural barn dating from 1924 was destroyed by fire on June 15, 1986. In the year 1987, it was completely rebuilt to its original state.
