The hiding place near Valthe was a hiding place in the Valtherbos between Valthe and Emmen that was excavated during the Second World War and was inhabited by sixteen Jewish people in hiding until the end of the war. The names of these sixteen Jews are: Louis (Loek) Bachrach; Ab (Alfred) van Dien; Samuel From and Sara From-Kropveld; their children Adolf, Roza and Bernard; Grietje de Jonge-Kropveld, Mozes Gudema and Dina de Levie; Maurits Jakobs and Rosa van Dam; Leo Kropfeld; Jacob Kropfeld; Sitta Meiboom-Speier and her daughter Bep Carla Meiboom. The model at the hiding place does not give the names entirely accurately.
