The river De Kromme Rijn makes a huge meander at this place. This bend was cut off in 1870 by the construction of a canal because of the New Dutch Water Line. What remained is now known as the Oude Kromme Rijn.
Two bridges make it possible for us to first cross the canal and then continue our journey on a grass path on the south side of the Oude Kromme Rijn.
