Around 1920 the decision was made to develop this site, called De Dreijen, as a campus of the Agricultural College Wageningen with an associated Arboretum.
The strongest expansion of the campus came immediately after the 2nd world war. In the nineties of the last century, construction was completed.
Wageningen University now has a large new campus on the north side of Wageningen. Although plans by the municipality and province initially involved the demolition of the whole, the university now has new plans for the buildings in the area.
