On May 27, 1994, the Arnhem War Museum opened its doors to the public for the first time, evolving from a hobby to a fully-fledged museum to keep the memory of this important episode in history alive and to preserve a unique collection for future generations.
The Arnhem War Museum provides, in addition to a general overview, as accurate a picture as possible of what occurred in Arnhem and its surroundings during the war years.
As you enter the museum, you are immediately transported back in time. The museum visualizes situations as they occurred during World War II as accurately as possible. For example, you can take a peek around the door at the occupying forces or see how the Dutch population coped during this difficult time while waiting for liberation. The staff/volunteers of the museum are always ready to guide you personally and answer all your questions. This is what makes the Arnhem War Museum so unique.
Would you like to have a cup of coffee or chat after the tour? You can do all that in the museum's cafeteria. There is also a shop where a small number of souvenirs are sold, such as calendars, stickers, and postcards.
