The Wijstgronden in Uden are three small nature reserves on the road from Uden to Vorstenbosch in the province of North Brabant. The Loose Beemden, the Raktse Beemden and the Kooldert together cover an area of approximately 41 hectares. The Forestry Commission is the owner. Due to the Peel Boundary Fault, there are local obstructions in the earth layer that cause swampy areas in the higher part of the landscape. There are water-retaining loam layers and iron banks. This causes a high water level and a special composition of the groundwater. The result is a rich flora and fauna. In 2004, the province of Noord-Brabant declared the Wijstgronden to be the first geological monument in the province. In 2020, the ambition is to turn it into a geopark recognized by Unesco.
