In 1985 Theo Clevers started his own cafeteria, where he started selling ice cream. Not much later, the company switched to only ice cream, made from the most beautiful ingredients. Passion and craftsmanship has only grown over the years.
In order to become proficient in the profession of ice cream maker, Theo Clevers took courses in basic ice cream kitchen, ice cream specialist and Master ice cream maker. Of course, the entire Clevers team is always working on becoming proficient in the field of ice cream, always keeping an eye on the latest trends
Since the National Ice Test of the Algemeen Dagblad in 1995 it has gone fast, the AD described the vanilla ice cream of Theo Clevers as "delicious", strawberry ice cream "fresh with mild aroma", the general verdict was "The winner! An address for which you make a detour for a few kilometers. Also hygienically perfect. That's how it should be!". Theo Clevers remained down-to-earth, "of course I'll get my share and enjoy my first place". The following year, IJssalon Clevers prolonged the title. In 2000 Theo Clevers won the title of "Ice Cream Parlor of the Year 2000". now years later, the honours list is large and IJssalon Clevers is one of the most awarded ice cream parlors in the Netherlands: from Ice Cream Parlor of the Year, golden ice cream sundae, the golden ice cream spatula, most striking catering manager and winner of the taste of the Netherlands and of course the Coppa D'oro (the golden cup) won in Italy in December 2014 Despite all the awards, it remains a challenge every day to make the tastiest ice cream
Surrounded by enthusiastic employees, things went very well in Grubbenvorst from 1985 ice cream parlor Clevers grew into a household name in the region, a second ice cream parlor was opened in 2000, ice cream parlor Clevers Arcen was a fact, in 2008 an ice cream parlor was opened in beautiful Overloon and in 2013 ice cream parlor Clevers Plasmolen opened, a whole new concept was opened in 2015 in Roermond, the very first Clevers take away, a very luxurious, trendy takeaway ice cream parlour. In order to be able to continue to provide quality and service, all ice cream parlours are independent companies and Theo has started to focus entirely on the modern ice cream factory.
