Kingdom of kingfishers

Over the centuries, a lot has changed in the land around the forest stream the Swalm, but at the same time it seems as if time has not gotten a grip on it. From a bench you can watch the clear stream water that flows as it always flowed, without human interference. The velvet power of the water has done its work here for centuries and there are now deep wear marks in the landscape.

By the way, from the bench, pay attention to whether you see something blue flash by. The stream valley of the Swalm is the perfect habitat for a number of typical stream valley inhabitants, such as the kingfisher. In the breeding season he digs his nest in the steep banks, the bushes and trees offer him shelter and in the water there are enough small fish swimming for this bird.
