Zeewolde is the youngest municipality in the Netherlands, which was not formed by the merging of other municipalities. It has been an independent municipality since 1984. The town hall was one of the first buildings in Zeewolde and is designed by architect Wim Quist. The front of the town hall is on the side of the approach harbor from which wide stairs provide access to the large square in front of the town hall.
