Castle Endegeest is a castle in the Dutch municipality of Oegstgeest. It is located in a forest park at Endegeesterstraatweg 5. The oldest mention of a castle Endegeest dates back to 1307. From 1641 to 1643, the French philosopher René Descartes resided at the castle. A bust of Descartes in the castle square commemorates this famous resident. However, the current castle is significantly younger and was built between 1647 and 1651 on the orders of Elisabeth van Schouwen van Endegeest and her husband Jacob van Berchem. Afterwards, the area between the two towers was completed. In front of the castle lies a square, which is accessible through a gate. Above the gate is the family coat of arms.
