Radio Nora is a radio reception station, located in the Dutch municipality of Noordwijk, north of the seaside resort and two kilometers south of the Langevelderslag, on the Duindamse Slag on the North Sea coast. In 1939 and 1940, it served as an emergency airfield called Langeveld.
In the 1920s, developments in the field of radio accelerated. In addition to the long wave that had been in use since the 1910s, medium wave and short wave became popular due to better propagation possibilities. For the Netherlands, long-distance connections were important to maintain contact with the Dutch colonies and the maritime traffic that maintained those connections.
