De Drie Notenboomen is a former bleaching and laundry facility on the Kattensingel in the Dutch town of Gouda.
Various clothing bleaching factories and laundries were located on the canals of Gouda. Behind the canals were grasslands, which could be used as bleaching fields. The canals supplied the water for the laundries.
One of these bleaching factories was De Drie Notenboomen. As early as the 16th century, a bleachery was established on this site. In 1709 the name De Drie Notenboomen was mentioned for the first time in the Gouda archives. In 1829, the bleaching and laundry came into the hands of the Jaspers family. This family from Limburg owned several laundries and bleaching factories near the canals of Gouda.
The gate with the relief dates from 1849; the laundry was then owned by Lambertus Jaspers and his son Anthonius. The company ceased operations in 1972. The contents and the machines were auctioned off. The buildings were transferred to the municipality of Gouda. The historical society Die Goude had the relief with the walnut trees painted in 1974. The destination of the area was the subject of a long-standing dispute. The restoration of the gatehouse was completed in 2007. The building was designated as an office building.
