Jukwerd is a small terp village in the municipality of Eemsdelta in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is located about a kilometer north of Appingedam, between two lakes: the Kleine and the Groote Heekt. On the terp stands the old church of Jukwerd. This hall church with an open belfry was built in 1866 as a successor to the dilapidated late medieval church from 1435. The church building, as well as the rectory a municipal monument, is no longer used as a place of worship. Since 1981, it has been inhabited and used as a studio by visual artists, who also teach courses there.
