The Schoonhovense Waag is a historic building. The city first had a weigh house in 1356, and it was used by the citizens, especially to weigh flax and hemp products. These were for centuries widely cultivated crops for, among other things, making fabrics and rope. There is still a scale from 1662.
The building was lost in a city fire in 1518. The current Waag was built in 1617 and enlarged in 1758. Since 1971 it has housed an eatery.
In front of the Waag is a statue depicting a Silversmith.
