Once stood here Castle Veldenstein or Castle Jaarsveld. The castle was located on the northern riverbank of the Lek to the northeast of Jaarsveld. The current mansion stands to the north of the castle grounds and was built in the 18th century. No above-ground remains of the original house are present anymore, only two rectangular moated islands remain. On these islands stood the outer bailey and the main castle. Access to the main castle was via a bridge with a gatehouse, which consisted of a round tower and a rectangular building block with a two-story residential wing connecting on the west side.
This walking path runs from junction 17 at the top of the Lekdijk, right past this historical ground, towards junction 11
