Ouddorp is primarily a beloved seaside resort with a wide and long beach located in a beautiful dune area.
The village may have already emerged in the year 900. Thus, Ouddorp is by far the oldest village in Goeree-Overflakkee. The village church is dedicated to Saint Martin. In 1418, a plundering and arson by Duke Jan of Brabant took place during the Hook and Cod wars, and in 1490 by Lord Frans of Brederode and Sir Jan of Naaldwijk. Around 1594, there was a 'Dutch Reformed congregation' in Ouddorp. Today, the village has six church congregations.
For a long time, Ouddorp has been a very insular community. The Goerees dialect (spoken in Ouddorp and Goedereede) is very different from Dutch and is fully Zeelandic. The share of dialect speakers in Ouddorp is very high (the highest in all of Goeree-Overflakkee),
