De Hel is located on the northeastern edge of the village center of It Heidenskip, also known as Heidenschap in Dutch.
It consists of only a few houses near the Koaidyk and the habitation on the Helspaed is also counted as part of the hamlet while the rest of the habitation on the Koaidyk is counted as It Heidenskip itself.
