It is located north of the city of Bolsward, between the villages of Witmarsum and Burgwerd. The core of the hamlet lies on both sides of the Harlingervaart along Hemerterlaan and Hemert. Also included is a part of Rijpenderlaan, usually up to and including the exit to the farm Sinnemastate, which is opposite the old farmhouse De Pannekoeken.
