The Koekamp, sometimes referred to as the Koekamp, is a park and deer enclosure in The Hague that historically forms part of the Haagse Bos, which consists of the forest, the Koekamp, and the Malieveld.
Originally, this was the hunting ground of the Counts of Holland, who resided in the castle that forms the basis of the current Binnenhof. The oldest mention of the Koekamp dates back to 1316. The Koekamp takes its name from the cattle that originally roamed here. By the seventeenth century, these had certainly been replaced by deer. Sometimes the Koekamp was referred to as the "warande of den Haege," for example in the Akte van Redemptie from 1576 and a map from 1645.
