The South Holland island of Putten, formerly also known as the Ring of Putten or Putten within the ring, is the eastern part of Voorne-Putten.
The boundary between Voorne and Putten is the water of the former river Bernisse, which seems to divide the double island into two equal halves. After silting up, the Bernisse was dredged some time ago. In the thirteenth century, tolls were collected in this river near Geervliet.
